C720 - Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Health Policy Analysis
This course will examine the field of health policy analysis from interdisciplinary perspectives with particular emphasis on clinical, administrative and government policy. After establishing a framework by which to analyze policy – which will include consideration of stakeholders, pressure groups, values, institutions, and the media – various tools will be studied as means of understanding how issues garner the attention of policy-makers and managers, how policy is formulated, implemented and evaluated. Techniques from business, political science, economics, sociology, epidemiology, and history will be used. Specific policy topics pertaining to priority issues and populations domestically and internationally will be presented as illustrations of this management art.
- Prerequisite: Registration in the Global Health Program, or eHealth Program, or permission of the instructor.
