What made you pursue an MBA: I decided to pursue an MBA because I wanted to build a stronger foundation in business strategy, finance, and data-driven decision-making while expanding my long-term career opportunities in Canada. Before my MBA, I had experience in areas like marketing, healthcare coordination, and finance-related work, which helped me realize that I really enjoy solving business problems and understanding how organizations make strategic decisions. However, I also recognized that I wanted more formal training in areas such as financial analysis, operations, and business analytics.

The MBA has allowed me to combine both the technical and interpersonal sides of business. I’ve developed stronger analytical skills through courses like corporate finance and business analytics, while also improving leadership, communication, and teamwork through group projects and co-op experiences. Another important reason was that I wanted practical Canadian work experience through the co-op program. That hands-on exposure has helped me better understand the Canadian workplace and clarify the type of business roles I want to pursue in the future.

Why did you choose DeGroote: I chose the DeGroote MBA program because of its strong focus on experiential learning, collaboration, and its co-op structure. As an international student who wanted practical Canadian business experience, the co-op component was extremely important to me. I also liked that DeGroote emphasizes both technical business skills and leadership development. The program offers a good balance of finance, strategy, analytics, and teamwork-based learning, which matched my career goals very well. Another reason was the supportive and collaborative culture. During my research and conversations with students and alumni, I felt that the DeGroote community was very welcoming and focused on helping students grow professionally. I wanted an environment where I could improve not only my technical skills, but also my communication, leadership, and adaptability. Finally, the location was also attractive because being close to Toronto provides access to many industries and networking opportunities, especially in finance, healthcare, and business operations

What has been your favourite part about the MBA: My favourite part of the MBA experience so far has been the combination of teamwork and real-world learning. I’ve had the opportunity to work with classmates from very different professional and cultural backgrounds, and that has helped me learn new ways of thinking and problem-solving. I’ve also really enjoyed the practical side of the program, especially case studies, presentations, and co-op experiences. I like being able to connect classroom concepts such as finance, marketing, operations, and analytics to real business situations. Another part I’ve appreciated is how much the MBA has pushed me outside my comfort zone. Whether it’s networking, presentations, or group discussions, I’ve become much more confident in communicating and working in a professional environment in Canada. Overall, the experience has helped me grow both professionally and personally.
