Srinija Palaparty
Undergraduate Degree: Bachelor of Science, University of Waterloo
Co-op or Internship Experience: MBA Co-op Analyst at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton
What are your top 2 industries: Healthcare
Are you part of any clubs or associations: Co-Chair for the DeGroote Interprofessional Health Leadership Conference
What made you pursue an MBA: I realized there were a lot of other roles I could pursue in healthcare outside of being a frontline healthcare practitioner and I would need an MBA to learn the skills and get the experience I needed to do them.
Why did you choose DeGroote: The coop program and how it allowed me to apply without having too much prior work experience required of other programs.
What has been your favourite part about the MBA: The people I’ve met and made friends with! There are some really interesting stories from people who have similar backgrounds and interests to mine, and yet I am able to learn so much from them and their unique experiences.
What is one quick tip you have for a first-year MBA student: Don’t be afraid to try or ask questions or participate in class, you’ll learn more and build confidence earlier.
What has been your favourite course at DeGroote, and why: C755 or C722, both healthcare courses. The first was healthcare analytics, where I was able to learn how to apply R skills to healthcare datasets. The second was population health management, which felt more similar to what I was familiar with from my undergrad, but I was able to look at the concepts in a new lens following my coop experience.
What I wish I knew on Day 1: You will make friends 🙂
What is one of your favourite weekend activities: Reading, crochet/knitting, and painting
Who is your favourite author: Robert Jordan
What is your favourite TV show: The Wheel of Time
