Reason for pursuing an MBA: While working on the front lines, I found deep fulfillment in the positive impact I was making, but I also realized that the change I was driving felt limited in scope and sustainability. I wanted to make a broader, more lasting difference – not just for patients, but also for the employees and teams working behind the scenes. I came to understand that the most effective way to amplify my impact was to lean into my strengths as a leader, build on them and pursue an MBA. This path would equip me with the tools, perspective, and network needed to drive meaningful, systemic change in healthcare.
Why DeGroote was chosen: I chose DeGroote because of the incredible support and personalized guidance I received even before becoming a student. I originally applied to the Master of Health Management program, and although I didn’t qualify, the admissions team didn’t just send a standard rejection. Instead, they reached out to me directly, took the time to understand my goals, and suggested the MBA co-op program as a strong alternative. They helped me navigate the application process and made me feel like I was already part of the community. That kind of encouragement and personal connection was exactly what I was looking for when making such a major decision about my future. I knew DeGroote was the place for me.
Favorite MBA experience: My favorite part of the MBA so far has to be the people I’ve met. You’re constantly surrounded by incredible individuals -whether it’s your peers, alumni, work term colleagues or students from other programs. The conversations, support, and connections I’ve made are truly unmatched!
Tip for first-year students: Connect with as many people as you can! Go to after-school events, engage with your peers, and focus on building genuine relationships. You’ll be working with classmates you never expected, often during high-pressure times, so having a foundation of friendship and trust can make all the difference!
Industries of interest: Healthcare; Pharmaceuticals.
Club involvement: I am the President of the Women in Management Association and a Team Captain Liason for Motionball DeGroote!
Weekend activities: My favourite weekend activities are working out or exploring the GTA with my friends!
Favorite course: My favourite course at DeGroote was either Transformation & Analytics (I603) or Accounting for Decision Makers (A650)!
Fun facts/hobbies: I’m a part time makeup artist and I love watching football (American football, sorry!).
Favorite book/movie/podcast: Fast and Furious movies, but only 1-6!
