Full-Time MBA

Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management, Adamson University (Philippines).

Co-op Experience: Office Assistant at DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University Ron Joyce Centre.

Reason for pursuing an MBA: My primary reason for pursuing an MBA abroad is to advance my career and better support my family, and I believe studying in Canada, with its high educational standards, diverse environment, and reputable institutions, offers the best opportunity for growth.

Why DeGroote was chosen: I chose the DeGroote MBA because of its great reputation and the balance between theory and real-world experience. I was really interested in how the program focuses on developing leadership skills and offers opportunities to learn from both experienced professors and classmates with diverse backgrounds. The collaborative environment and hands-on learning approach really align with my goals of growing both professionally and personally.

Favorite MBA experience: My favorite part of the MBA experience so far has been learning from my peers. Everyone comes from different backgrounds, so I’ve been able to see things from different perspectives, some of which I never considered before. I’ve also gained a lot more confidence in myself, especially when it comes to speaking up in class discussions. I have also gotten involved more on campus, like being the Finance Director for the MBA Association and attending events, which has really pushed me to try new things. Overall, it has been an amazing experience that’s helped me grow both academically and personally.

Tip for first-year students: A quick tip for first-year MBA students is to always do your reading in advance. It is important to stay on top of all your deliverables to manage the workload effectively. Also, NEVER hesitate to ask questions, either from your peers or seniors, as there is no such thing as a dumb question.

Industries of interest: Finance and CPG.

Club involvement: MBA Association, I am the Finance Director.

Weekend activities: On a warm, sunny day, I enjoy exploring the GTA area. During the fall, I like to go hiking and taking in the beautiful scenery. In the winter, I prefer staying at home, sipping hot chocolate, reading fantasy books, or doing arts and crafts. But no matter what I do, I always listen to music and call my family.

Favorite course: Accounting!!!

Fun facts/hobbies: I make crochet items (selling on IG). I am an active member of the Catholic church (choir and lector). I watch Formula 1.

Favorite book/movie/podcast: Anything under the fantasy genre. I’m currently reading One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, and a lot of books to be read like the ACOTAR series, The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series, and many many many more.
