Reason for pursuing an MBA: I pursued an MBA because I was seeking a new challenge and a deeper development of my professional toolkit. Early in my career, I recognized a strong desire to be more business oriented, and I knew I needed the right skills, training, and business acumen to thrive. I was also ready to evolve from being an individual contributor to becoming an effective people leader, a transition I had already begun navigating informally at work. The MBA was a natural next step in that journey.

Why DeGroote was chosen: DeGroote stood out to me because of its unique blend of academic excellence and real world experience. The opportunity to apply classroom learning directly through the co op program was the key influence to my decision. I was also particularly drawn to McMaster’s reputation for hands on, experiential learning. I knew that to truly grow and lead in the business world, I needed more than just theory. I needed a program that emphasized practical, purposeful application, and DeGroote delivered.

Favorite MBA experience: My favorite part of the MBA experience has been the person I’m becoming. The strong sense of community at DeGroote, along with the numerous opportunities to grow both personally and professionally, has been transformative. The exchange semester and experiential learning opportunities pushed me beyond what I thought possible. Even in moments of doubt, I’ve had peers and friends in the program who reminded me of my potential. DeGroote has not only equipped me with knowledge, it’s helped me redefine my personal brand.

Tip for first-year students: Do the hard things and embrace the unknown, especially the random group assignments. Some of your most rewarding insights and connections will come from unexpected places.

Industries of interest: Strategy Operations & Finance.

Club involvement: N/A.

Weekend activities: I enjoy going on long drives or long walks, listening to music to unwind.

Favorite course: A650 – Managerial Accounting. It was the course I least expected to enjoy, but it was an enjoyable exposure to accounting. The professor made accounting both easy to assimilate and deeply strategic, reshaping how I approach business decisions.

Fun facts/hobbies: During my third semester, I went on exchange in France and discovered my love for solo travel. In just four months, I explored 10 countries and 16 cities. It was truly an experience I hold dear to my heart.

Favorite book/movie/podcast: Podcast: Women at Work. It offers thoughtful insights on leadership, workplace dynamics, and navigating professional spaces as a woman, all topics I enjoy learning about.
