Patrick Wojtera
Education: Bachelor of Technology in Automation Engineering, McMaster University.
Co-op Experience: Hamilton Health Sciences – Research & Development Student, Canadian Tire Financial Services – Customer Acquisition Student, EY – Banking Technology Consultant Intern.
Reason for pursuing an MBA: Career shift while advancing myself to a manager level much quicker.
Why DeGroote was chosen: Living in Hamilton and doing my undergrad at McMaster made it easy to understand the prestige. The opportunities for additional learning through the extra curricular activities (DL program as well) ultimately is what sold me alongside the co-op program allowing me to get exposure to 3 different industries while going through the program.
Favorite MBA experience: Participating in the MBA Games 2025, and coming first place overall. Was a huge win for DeGroote and reignites the passion and energy from our school.
Tip for first-year students: Take advantage of as many opportunities as you can (say yes!). DeGroote offers plenty of leadership and outside of the classroom activities or events to be a part of. The majority of my own connections (and friends!) have been made through these experiences.
Industries of interest: Technology and Consulting.
Club involvement: The MBA Association.
Weekend activities: Play some games – board game or video, just anything to relax and unwind.
Favorite course: P700 – Managing Geopolitical and Social Risk.
Fun facts/hobbies: Try to go rock climbing every once in a while. Otherwise a huge foodie around Hamilton, can help with any kind of recommendations.
Favorite book/movie/podcast: The Waveform Podcast, the only way I can do my dishes.
