Reason for pursuing an MBA: Coming from a technical background in Computer Science and having worked as a Data Scientist in India, I found myself increasingly drawn to the why behind the data—not just the what. I was curious about the strategic decisions that shaped business outcomes and wanted to move beyond building models to influencing how those models are used in real-world scenarios.  Pursuing an MBA felt like the natural next step to bridge this gap. I wanted to complement my analytical skill set with a deeper understanding of business strategy, leadership, and decision-making. The DeGroote MBA, with its focus on experiential learning and co-op opportunities, offered the perfect environment to explore this intersection of analytics and business.

Why DeGroote was chosen: I chose the DeGroote MBA Program because it offered the perfect blend of academic learning, practical experience, and community. Coming from a technical background, I was looking for a program that would help me develop a well-rounded business perspective while allowing me to apply my analytical skills in new ways. The co-op option was a major draw—it provided a chance to gain meaningful Canadian work experience and explore different areas of business through hands-on learning. The program’s strong focus on leadership development, teamwork, and real-world problem solving really stood out to me. What also set DeGroote apart was its welcoming, supportive culture. From the moment I connected with current students and alumni, I felt a genuine sense of community and encouragement. Being part of that environment has helped me grow both professionally and personally.

Favorite MBA experience: My favorite part of the MBA experience so far has been the opportunity to connect with diverse, driven individuals and learn through hands-on, real-world experiences. Whether it was working on the Integrated Project—which pushed me to think critically and collaborate under pressure—or contributing as a Student Ambassador and Grad Navigator, I’ve found the most fulfillment in the relationships and shared learning that have come from being actively involved. The classroom learning has been incredibly valuable, but it’s the moments outside of it—leading teams, helping incoming students, engaging with faculty, and participating in case competitions—that have truly shaped my growth. The DeGroote MBA has given me the platform to step outside my comfort zone and continuously challenge myself in meaningful ways.

Tip for first-year students: Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment to start networking—just start having conversations. Reach out to peers, alumni, and professionals early on, not just when you need something. A simple message to learn about someone’s journey can go a long way. Remember, networking isn’t about asking for a job—it’s about building genuine connections and learning from others. The earlier you begin, the more natural and rewarding it becomes.

Industries of interest: Analytics and product management—both allow me to blend strategic thinking with my technical background to drive impactful solutions.

Club involvement: NO.

Weekend activities: On weekends, I love exploring new cafés with friends and trying different cuisines around the city. I also enjoy winding down with a good mystery or thriller movie—it’s my way of relaxing and recharging for the week ahead.

Favorite course: My favourite course at DeGroote was Strategic Marketing Management. It challenged me to think beyond traditional marketing tactics and really understand customer behavior, positioning, and long-term strategy. The case-based learning and real-world applications made it both engaging and impactful.

Fun facts/hobbies: A fun fact about me is that I love baking and experimenting with different recipes. It’s my creative outlet and a great way to unwind—plus, it’s always rewarding to share the tasty results with friends and family!

Favorite book/movie/podcast: My favourite movie is Inception—I love how it blends complex storytelling with thrilling visuals, making me think deeply while staying fully engaged. It’s the perfect mix of entertainment and intellectual challenge.
