While earning your MBA you can either take a wide variety of business courses or concentrate in a particular subject area. Most students select their specialization in second year. Part-time students will select their specialization after completing their seventh course.

General Requirements

To earn a specialization you need to meet these course requirements in second year:

  • 5 required courses (specific to the specialization)
  • P700 (Business, Government and the Global Environment)
  • P720 (Strategic Management)
  • 3 elective courses

When to Declare Your Specialization

  • Co-op and Full-time students
Declare your specialization before the start of your third academic term.
  • Accelerated students
Declare your specialization when you register for your first term.
  • Part-time students
Declare your specialization after you complete your seventh course.

How to Declare Your Specialization

Students have the ability to declare or change their specialization online via a School of Graduate Studies eForm.

This feature in Mosaic allows students to initially declare or change a specialization. Students complete the eForm in Mosaic which is automatically forwarded to the Academic Advising team for approval. Once the request is approved it is forwarded through Mosaic to the School of Graduate Studies for processing and the student’s academic plan is updated.

As always, Academic Advisors will review each student record prior to graduation to ensure that all requirements have been met.

Please click here for step-by-step instructions to declare your specialization.

Pre-Approval for Specializations

You must be pre-approved before registering for the Health Services Management (HSM)  specialization. There are additional requirements which must be met before you can be approved. (These requirements are listed in the description.)

If you would like to register for this specialization, please contact an academic advisor.
