Online Interview Guide – Part-Time Applicants

Structure of the Interview

• You will be asked five oral questions.
• The questions are designed to be answered without advanced preparation, which will allow us to get to know you better.
• You will, however, have a brief preparation time for the oral questions. For the first two oral questions, you will have 45 seconds to prepare and for the last three oral questions, you will have 30 seconds to prepare before responding.
• Each question will have a time limit to complete your answer ranging from 1.5 – 2 minutes in duration for the oral questions.

How to Prepare

• You will require an internet-connected computer with a functioning webcam and microphone.
• Choose a quiet, neutral location for your recording where you will be free of distractions.
• Business attire is recommended for the interview (i.e. suit jacket).
• We have provided some practice questions and you can practice an unlimited number of times before starting your real interview. The admissions committee will not see your responses to any of the practice questions.
• For your interview preparation, we recommend that you create some structure to your answers and focus on your accomplishments. We use a behavioural-based methodology for our questions – please see recommended resources and guides to help you prepare for these questions.
• For your answers, we want to better understand your experiences, so we recommend that you include examples from all aspects of your background that will provide us with a comprehensive overview of your candidacy – including, academic, work, volunteer and extra-curricular activities.
• Research the DeGroote School of Business, know your strengths, and be able to articulate your goals for why you want to complete an MBA.
